Human Resources Specialist - Placement (Human Resource Specialist, BOP-Careers)

Incumbent utilizes the Bureau's automated online application staffing systems for BOP-Careers/BOP-HIRES to perform nationwide Merit Promotion and Delegated Examining (case examining and/or standing registers) staffing functions, to include processing announcements, rating applications, preparing certificates and finalizing boards for closure or audit. This is a developmental position. As such, the close supervision received will enable the incumbent to gain the necessary experience and skill to perform at a higher grade level. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education:
GS-07:
One full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. GS-09:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B or J.D., if related. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR
Experience:
GL-07 and GL-09:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and this is typically in or related to the work of the position. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
GS-07:
Experience that demonstrates the ability to provide human resource support, advice and guidance in various human resources areas such as staffing, recruiting and training. Experience with the employment/selection process, i.e., preparing certificates for selecting official, coordinating/conducting applicant interviews, providing new employee orientation and completing new employee documentation. Experience completing and filing various human resource forms/documentation, providing information and assistance, and performing various human resource support functions. GS-09:
Experience with interpreting and ensuring compliance with federal laws, Office of Personnel Management regulations, policies as they relate to human resource issues. Experience in providing technical assistance to others to properly operate and/or use automated human resource systems accordingly to reference manuals, policies and instructions. Experience with assessing applications, determining applicants' eligibility and qualifications for a variety of federally classified positions under merit promotion procedures and/or special hiring authorities. Experience with utilizing a personnel action guide to research, prepare and process a variety of personnel actions and maintaining related files. Experience in utilizing an automated staffing application system to post vacancy announcements to a web based job opportunity board such as USAJOBS. OR Combination of Education and

Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
